Custom Re-maps

Ever wished that you could derestrict your bike? Increase the performance maybe or remove that speed limiter? Well now you can! and as for results, what you are spending your money on, it can transform your bikes performance, ride and rider feel.

The technical part of your ECU!

The ECU (Engine Control Unit) controls the amount of fuel and ignition advance and other parameters that your motorcycle needs to run under any given condition. The ECU does this by monitoring inputs including throttle position, rpm, gear, air temperature and coolant temperature.

Factory fitted ECUs are far from optimal and are developed to allow for a wide range of riding styles, fuel quality and operational conditions. In addition, emission regulations also dictate the standard ECU settings. The result of this is often a compromise resulting in suboptimal performance. Significant improvements can be achieved through correcting the stock ECU’s deficiencies and tuning the engine to take full advantage of it’s potential.

ECU flashing is the process of updating the software that runs on your bikes control unit. This allows you to change various maps and settings and significantly improve the performance of your engine.

What settings can be tuned on my motorcycle?

Below is a list of maps and settings that we may be able to adjust. Please note that features and functions vary between bike makes and models.

• Fuel Maps (both IAP & TPS)
• Ignition Maps
• Secondary Throttle Plate (STP) Opening Maps
• Injector Balance Maps
• Ram Air Maps
• Adjust RPM Limiter
• Adjust Fan Temperature
• Enable Wideband O2 Sensor
• Disable Stock O2 Sensor
• Unlock a locked ECU
• Quickshifter
• Enable High Speed Data-logging
• Disable Top Speed Limiter

To successfully map and re-flash your ECU, your bike will be set up on our Dyna Pro 125LC Dynamometer (rolling road) which is included in the price. You will be supplied with two dyno printouts of a before and after process to show the gains in throttle response however once you take the bike out on the road you will experience immediately the smoother throttle response around town. Please call for prices.

Motorcycle Suspension Servicing & Upgrades

Motorcycle suspension plays a major part in the bikes over all performance, and yet your shock absorber and front forks are often overlooked during service schedules. The service and maintenance schedule of the suspension will depend on the nature of riding styles of its rider.  Track days or short circuit racing will see front and rear suspension stripped and serviced a number of times within a seasons racing. Commuter bikes and weekend pride and joys should have a routine inspection and overhaul every two to three years, the oil alone will become tired and internal bush wear often takes place, left too long and Anodised coatings inside of their chambers will wear thin and result in reduced damping in the shock and forks.

Your suspension is in safe hands, we are a K-tech service centre, we have trained suspension technicians. With a recent investment in Ohlins and K-tech factory tools we are able to service Showa, Kayaba, Ohlins, K-tech and Nitron shocks and forks.

We are proud to partner with K-tech equipment, their Vacuum machine and Nitrogen gas equipment is a leading industry standard.

Most manufactures depending on bike model will look to fit entry level basic suspension, some shocks just are not capable of taking upgraded internal components and a replacement shock would be the recomended upgrade.

Depending on your budget we can supply upgraded shocks from YSS suspension, however if your budget can go a little further we would recommend a K-tech upgrade, Most quality Showa and Kayaba shocks really benefit from a re-valve and service, some of our club racing customers run standard Showa units with our custom K-tech internal upgraded components, please call to discuss your requirements.

KTM, GAS GAS, K-tech bladder conversion will transfer the riding quality of your WP shock fitted to your motocross or Enduro bike. We also supply and fit K-tech piston and shim stack upgrades, this upgrade will give you a dynamic set up capability , with excellent fine tuning with the shock and fork range, whether you are running at a hare and hounds or MX track.

Service Options:

Ride in/Ride out service

Send your shock or forks to us, download our customer suspension sheet KSR CUSTOMER SERVICE SHEET, fill out and enclose with your suspension. Once we receive your suspension we will call you to confirm and have a chat about any upgrades to your suspension. We will also call you once we have stripped the suspension, should there be any additional parts we will discuss with you by phone call and send over to you some detailed photos identifying the component wear.

Your refreshed shock will be sent back by insured Royal mail Parcel Force.

Restoration

The classic bike scene is growing each year, and at KSR, we are aware that some customers may have a cherished classic bike they are looking to restore or simply keep maintained. We offer a bespoke restoration service that includes the following:

• Powder coating

• Polishing

• Re-chroming

• Engine rebuilds and gas flowing for 2T & 4T engines

• Ultrasonic cleaning

• Welding (carried out at our Northwest fabrication workshop)

• Machining

Our engineering shop in the Northwest boasts a dedicated team of engineers who are proficient in working with both CAD and old-school drawings. If you have a part that needs modifying or making from scratch and you don’t have the drawing, don’t worry; our team can create it based on measurements from the original part.

As an example, during the 2015 KTM Cup championship at British Superbikes, KTM Power parts were unable to supply foot pegs or handlebars. In response, we stepped in and produced our own, not only for ourselves but also for other KTM riders in the championship. It was gratifying to know that our little engineering shop in the Northwest was able to supply these parts to KTM UK when the factory couldn’t.

Tuning Services

Here at KSR Performance we only use the latest diagnostic equipment from TEXA, an industry leading specialist in motorcycle diagnostic equipment. The TEXA software covers all motorcycles up to 2022, If you have an engine management light (FI) on we can diagnose it and have you back on the road in no time.

Whilst your bike is with us for servicing or tuning we will routinely health check your engine management ECU for stored faults, after a full check of the operating systems, we will clear the fault memory in the control unit of any partial stored faults, giving the ECU another 6000+ miles of healthy riding. Your ECU is no different to your computer at home and it requires care and attention, glitches in the operating software slow down the ECUs capability to manage your bikes engine efficiently. Now some people might argue and say this is rubbish however we have run a motorcycle on our Dyno recording the BHP at the wheel and after a health check with the TEXA diagnostic equipment the motorcycle has gained an extra 2-3 BHP on our Dyno rolling road, so it proves a poor performing ECU can affect the efficiency of the engine.

Dyno Centre

We are an approved Dyna Pro rolling road centre, our dyno runs a full ram air system enabling accurate mapping of engine maps and ignition set up, this gives a real time simulation for ram air fuel systems.

We use the following systems

• Woolich racing ECU remapping
• YEC
• KIT
• HRC
• Motec
• Fuel injection set-up and custom mapping
• Carb calibration
• Race / track day setup
• Fault diagnosis
• Rapid Bike
• Quick shifters – Dynojet, Translogic and HM.
• Tune ECU – Triumph and KTM
• K&N, Sprint and BMC air filters

Why have a motorcycled tuned?

Having your bike tuned and set up professionally with custom settings makes a massive difference;
From low down manoeuvres through town centres to picking it up hard from a corner. a fluid, smooth power delivery can promote confidence and safer riding. A quicker throttle response mid-range will help you to overtake quickly and safely or pull away from your competitors on the track and the extra top end horsepower will keep you ahead. In standard guise, bikes are heavily restricted thanks to EU laws and governing bodies who require new motorcycles to conform to emissions, noise and certain power restrictions, therefore minor modifications can emphasize already poor performance areas causing poor acceleration, overheating and an increase in engine wear, these can be tuned out using either piggy back modules such as Power commanders or Bazzaz units which simply plug in between your ECU and the injector bodies. Another alternative is ECU modification where the information is altered permanently, this is a much more invasive procedure and should only be undertaken by a professional ideally on a dyno to prove information and adjustments are correct.

We use the latest ECU reflash software from Woolich racing, Woolich software is tried and tested within the Bennetts British Superbike & Superstock championship. Woolich racing is one of the best reflash software packages for standard road bikes, if you are looking to remove that jerky Euro 4 throttle running then come and see us and discuss the best package for your bike.
